OK, the first thing you should try (if you're looking for better stepper
performance) is to try the latest version of freqmod for the EMC. You can
either download a pre-compiled version at:

http://www.obstinate.org/emc/sherline-mods.tar.gz

or you can build it from source by getting the CVS version anonymously:

http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=6744
