I have a bearing endmount unit similar to the Rockford or
Thomson drawn up in Autocad if anyone needs it. It uses two
DB angular contact bearings and standard Chicago rawhide
seals. It can be considered simple end fixity with the bearings
adjacent to each other, or a pair of inner and outer sleeve
spacers can be fitted for fixed. The addition of a bearing
bellville spring can allow a special case of fixed support
where bending loads are resisted but the bearings float axially
for thermal stability. Deep groove bearings can be used in this
case, and it would be used on only one end, with a non-floating
type on the other.

I don't think you will need it for a BP conversion though, Vince.

Another note: Machining to +/- 0.00015" is required for these,
particularly sleeve lengths. Building them gives an excellent
lesson in why the commercial units cost about $300 each!
I have made and used a bunch of them though.

Vince,

It's not drawn up by us, because it's so easily found online...
Caveat; there are a whole slew of Bridgeport models and over the
years things changed. Be sure you are comparing apples with apples.
