Antonio: I don't know about sources in Europe, but BSA here in USA has
"preloaded turcite nuts" consisting of two parts with "fingers" which intermesh so
that they must TURN together without "slop", and these are pushed apart with a
coil-spring, the degree of compression determining the degree of pre-load
(friction). This works, but it has its disadvantages.

Another thing BSA has come up with recently is a "Supernut" design which uses
a "two-part nut", but is more compact. I used these on a plotter I shipped
out of State, so have no direct opportunity to see how that continues to
function, but it DID seem like a fine invention! Ask BSA for information on that
product.
