with the electrical power turned OFF, can you FIX the carriage some way, such
as with furniture-clamps, etc? Then, turn the lead-screws by hand, and see
if there is any "free play" left-to-right. THAT is "backlash". There should
be amost NONE in a properly built CNC system.
