RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Better servo performance: Ameteks at 60V, 80V ?

I came across some brushless Kollmorgen 762 oz in servo motors rated at
4500 RPM and are a drop in replacement for a nema34 stepper motor. The
motors are rated at .9HP. They are new and I have some step and
direction brushless servo amps rated at 23A Peak 11Amps continous
24-80VDC.
They are awesome.
My prices will be dirt cheap compared to list of even some of the ebay
prices I have seen. All are new in factory cartons. See my web site at
www.seanet.com/~dmauch in about three days where I will give more
spscifics and pricing.

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Better servo performance: Ameteks at 60V, 80V
?

High people.

We've got Ametek servo motors on some of our CNC equipment. Everything
work well, but we are limited to 150 IPM. We'd like our rapid speeds to
be faster, something closer to 400 IPM.

Does anyone know of servo motors with about 600 OZ In torque (peak),
reasonable size and a top speed of about 2000 RPM, with a reasonable
price tag ?

There is nothing wrong with the Ameteks except that they are only rated
for 900 RPM with a 40 Volt supply. I'm wondering how they would run
with a 60 or 80V supply. Right now they run cool all the time, whether
running fast or slow, even under heavy cuts. We have plenty of cutting
power.

The only problem we have is that at high rapid speeds (motor RPM 800+)
they run out of power, probably due to the fact that their no load speed
is 900 RPM from a 40 V supply. If we ran them from a 60V supply, we
could probably get 1350 RPM or 225IPM and 80V would yield 300 IPM or so,
which would be a big step in the right direction.

Has anyone tried this ?

BTW: setup is Ameteks, 5 TPI ballscrews, Gecko 320s, 40V supply, direct
drive, ie no belt reduction.

Thanks
