Microcontroller or PC will do the job, but you will have to take the
logic level signals you generate and make them drive the motor. You
will have to use darlington or FET transistors to do this, but I'm not
personally familiar with 5 phase motors. I'd go to their website for
all the information I could find, and pay special attention to the
parts that tell you how to drive the motor.

The actual program in a microcontroller is going to be relatively
simple, involving the timer/counter part of the chip, 5 output lines,
and some input lines to tell the chip what you want to do.
