No. Many Vexta 5-phase motors have 5 wires, and the 5 coils are internally
wired as a ring. It takes 10 transistors to drive them. I have a Vexta
5-phase
motor and a Super-Vexta driver for it. Until I got a Gecko 201A
microstepping
drive and hooked it to some old size 34 motors I had, I had never seen a
stepper that could perform as well.

All Vexta 5-phase motors have a 5 as the first digit in the part #. All
Vexta
2-phase motors have a 2 in the first digit.
