I was taking 5 phase at face value.. I'm not sure how 5 wires would
have gotten that, but that's what he said.

Which is completely correct. Perhaps a part number for the motor
might help us figure out the current and voltage characteristics, if
they're not on the motor.

if it is a standard 2 phase motor, even unipolar only, there are a
number of chips that can drive that directly.
