1) use an indicator and check for lost steps. If you are off by this
much there may be a problem with the stepper adjustments.

2) Double check that the stop and switch are mounted "FIRMLY". Any
looseness will show as a moving home position

3) Most systems that I have looked at will repeat very reasonably if
the same speeds and direction are used.

What are you using for an actuator? A perpendicular face, or a ramp?
