Jack,
Question #1 go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mach1mach2cnc and join the
group if you are not a member already. Click on files and then click on
Speed Control. The second file is a picture of and op amp circuit to do what
you want.
Question #2 you can use the sensor to sense the pulse but you will have to
convert the output from 18 volts to TTL (0-5VDC) levels. One thing about
inductive switches; make sure you guard it well if you get a metal chip in
between it and the sensed part it will come on all the time and have no off
state. Also check the response time of the device, some are not to quick.
