No, for several reasons. Mostly, is that the single-phase motors use
a separate starting winding and a centrifugal switch that only drops
out at 75% + of full speed. So, you can't run them at reduced speed.
The switch opening might pop transistors in the VFD, too.

So, I really don't even see the point?
