Confused on software....little help please!

I have converted a HF micro mill to CNC, works great! But I am
getting confused on the software side. I have the following.

Turbocad 4.0 Learning Edition.
Master5 (was opted for due to Win 98 OS.)

Two Questions:

#1. With certain drawing such as a square with a half circle cut
out of one side I cannot get the drawing to import correctly. The
tool path view shows the square where it supposed to be but the half
circle "Arc" is generated in the wrong spot. Most of the time with
one leg of the arc starting at 0,0. I can draw just one single
circle and it imports and cuts fine. The problem seems to be with
combinations of objects. I do explode my drawing before I save in
DFX format.

#2. The learning Edition of Turbocad is 2D only, will I have to
convert to a true 3d program to get Z axis control? Right now I can
only set the Z value on initial import to Master5.
