I have a question for you if you don't mind. I am so new to this I am not
sure if I am born yet!! I want to set up one of the small lathes I have. I
had purchased some step motors to try and do this. I would be glad to give
you thew particulars on them if you need it. Anyway I don't necessary want
to use it as cnc but more to use it as a left and right movement for the
longitudinal feed. What do I need in the way of hardware to make these
motors move the way I want them to. I don't have a lot of money to spend on
this project right now. I have been looking on ebay and have found some
electronic parts that I think my work but I am not sure. If I would send you
the site would you be willing to go look and tell me if it would work. It
would be greatly appreciated. If you can't just let me know I will
understand.

While this thread has morphed from my original post (questions) your
statements regarding the advantages of servo -vs- steppers has me
thinking that when I begin my CNC build/mod the servo route may be
preferred. The "delta" as you stated, is not that great and I would
be interested on your thoughts if the servo may be my better
purchase/investment.

I do not intend at this time to have more than my 3in1 machine
CNC'd, but would want the greater accuracy. Also, the more robust
servo system may more readily transfer to a larger machine, if I
really get the bug.
