Hi Andras,

The Japanese site seems to have a bit more information on it than the UK
site - Mazak is a Japanese company if my memory serves me.

I have a feeling that the work loads in this machine are seriously lower
than they are in a big VMC. The machine will need to be programmed
specifically to achieve the higher tolerances - very light cuts and slow
movements for instance. It won't be taking two mm off a piece of titanium
with each pass, like the bigger machines can. So it's probably closer to the
microscope work you mentioned than high volume removal machining.

If you look on the bottom of the Japanese site, you'll see that they claim
the accuracies using a specific temperature profile on a foundation purpose
built for the lathe.

However many billionths of a metre it can claim, I'd still trade my desktop
piece of junk in for one! :^)
