But I'm a Windows SysAdmin at work that does most of his Windows

So I've tried, off and on, to use either Mach2 or EMC, being absolutely
comfortable in the environment of either. In fact, there are three CNC
machines in the shop, all with their own PC, all triple booting either DOS or
Linux or Windows.
But I still haven't been able to mentally replace CNCPro when it comes time to
actually MAKE something .. there's lots of _playing_ going on with the other
two, but when there's a genuine part to be made, DOS/CNCPro is always what I
boot.
I admit that part of my prejudice comes from the fact that I'm a keyboard
kinda guy and I simply don't want to be messing around with a mouse in my
shop .. all flat surfaces are in use <G> and grease-free surfaces are really
not an option.
So, I'm currently undertaking the task of learning Tk/Tcl in the hope of
writing/modifying the EMC interface for ALL keyboard use, and if that ever
happens, EMC might well be my choice.
But until then, CNCPro it is.
Now the glitch. When one tries to open a file containing GCode (you know, to
make a part), they get a list of files, sorted ABSOLUTELY RANDOMLY. I have
not, in the five years or so that I've been using the program, been able to
determine ANY logic to the manner in which the files are displayed, EXCEPT
that the most recently modified file (the one you probably want to load) is
usually (but not always) at the end of the list.
Other than that, though, I've been pretty happy.
My two cents.
