I like the single threadmills cuz I can do right or left hand threads,
inside or outside. Cost is $40 to $50 from MSC. I use the 1/4 inch
threadmill to cut 1.035"-40tpi threads for 1 inch ThorLabs tubes. I use
a #4 threadmill for blind 4-40 holes 0.175 inches deep.

Upside is that it is faster than handtapping and can be done by the CNC
mill that just drilled the holes.

Downside is that this is slower than tapping with the mill if you happen
to have the capability to synchronize spindle rotation with z axis
decent.

Another downside...I dropped my #4 bit on a hardwood floor and it
snapped the very skinny neck. $50 plus shipping to replace when I need
it next. Bummer :(

In general, I like threadmills on my Sherline 5410 (metric 5400) CNC
mill.
