The 4-way switch, along with a separate ON-OFF switch, would work.

A 3-way in NOT a DPST, it is a SPDT. This switch would NOT work in this
application. It wouldn't work even if it WAS a DPST(but it's not)

You need to have 2 poles to do the reversing. This can be done with a DPDT
switch wired to reverse the polarity of the output when you switch it(along
with a separate ON-OFF switch unless you use a DPDT-CO), or with the 4-way
switch and a separate ON-OF switch.
