As long as you can get the old controls to work with common steppers or
servos, then you can do a motor/drive replacement first, then do the
control replacement. It's probably best if the old control outputs step
and direction signals, as that's what you'll get from EMC (in the most
common case, at least).

Is it possible to see this PDF? Looking at that sequence, it seems that
there should be another step with value 24 between 25 and 28 (ie, 19,
17, 25, 24, 28, 12, 14, 6, 7, 3)
