The simplest is Turbo-CNC. you can define any port as high or low
and as a switch so you can press, say, the 's' key and toggle pin #4
of the parallel port on and off.

Run a 500 ohm to an LED and connect that to the output pin and the
ground pin of the port.

then toggle that pin on and off. watch the LED.

There are bunches of easy to build circuits to power a relay from a
parallel port on the web. instead of machine lists, considder
groups like

If you just want a single circuit, drop me a line off list. I have a
small board that runs one relay from the PP. I made it for
telescopes so one can use 5V or 12V for slow or high speed.
