Ron, if you can visualize the box fram without the coil, it is two
rectangles with holes. the coil wraps in those holes and you don't
see the center core.

But you can easily find the thickness as the thickness of all the
laminations is the same as the core.

You can also find the hieght as the coil should bump up against the
top of the rectangular cut outs.

with just a little trouble, you should be able to measure the width
as the coil had to bend around it and should leave a little gap to
allow measurement.

It is the core area that needs to be known.
Often, the outriggers are exactly half of the core area so you can
measure them and double as a cross check.

And the secondary wire gauge should also reveal a clue to the current
rating. The wire is selected to be as close as can be to the
current rating. too large a dia is a waste of wire and space, too
small a dia and, well, you can guess.

But, it is the core dimmentions that are needed. ignore the coil,
measure the frame.
