The stack thickness is 2.3", the width between the two rectangular openings in the plates is 2.3" as well. Coil height is 4" the outside diameter of COIL is 4.7". Any idea?

Thanks, Dave, but this assumes the "stack" has been made the same as the
core-width (middle leg width). It is often NOT! The thickness is usually MORE
than the core-width!
With vernier calipers, or even a good ruler, one can USUALLY see the edges
of the core right as it enters the winding. I suspect 4.5" is NOT a linear
width in this instance, and am waiting for corrected values.
