Google around for a local Linux User Group - There's bound to be one near you,
if not, many run mailing lists and irc channels where you can find loads of
support. Don't forget, Google is your friend http://www.google.com/linux

Plenty of apps installed so you can start using the office apps and playing
with the CAD/CAM packages.

It *may* find the network card when it boots up, more likely you'd have to
tell the system about it though. The configs would certainly need to be
entered manually though.
