I know of now public software for EDM
Many who have never tackled Edm will give you advise
they mean well but ....
I only know about EDM from 35 years of using, modifying and programming
The algorithms for fwd reverse are not public
They are owned by AGIE FANUC, Mitsubishi, Makino, etc
they are closely guarded secrets
I am now in Taiwan at TIMTOS looking at many machines that dont do it
well
and am adapting a commercial system to it
Look at Beckhoff, Power Automation, Delta Tau for commercial venues
expect costs near 10K$ for a system with control, scales, amos and
motors
expect to work a lot making it EDM
or
buy an inexpensive machine from Taiwan or EBAY
(esp if you want to get cutting and not especially understand reversing,
time slicing, trajectory planners, message ques etc)

I dont mean to hand you just bad news, but I've looked for a lot of
years
and could be very wrong about it's existance, but it's unlikely after
all
this effort,
