Hi Dave! It's amazing how a good idea can grow, until the growing
pains cause problems. When the NAMES show was held at the Yack arena,
it was a small, fun, neat kind of show. The cnc portion was in it's
infantcy, and a lot of people (like myself) were facinated by it.
Computers were still slow, dos was the os, and programs were few and
far between...Jump to the future. A lot has changed, and I even built
my machine (and it works!) Over the last couple of years, I and
others were talking about a cnc only type of show, because of the
growth of our own hobby. When talking with Roland, I was telling him
some of the problems another club(Rock and Gem) that I belong to, has
had doing our shows. He then tells me he owns a old jr. high school
building with plenty of parking and plenty of space to "do our
stuff"! Well the rest Will be history later this summer! As for
NAMES, they are moving the show to Ohio next year. Good luck to
them...
As for our new show, all I can ask is if Roland needs any help,
please pitch in whenever possible. It's going to be a lot of work
and we are going to have a kick-butt time! I will be there all week,
so I do not plan to have much of a voice left after that! Cnczone is
going to put up a banner on the front page promoting the show. With
9,970 users at the site....WOW...could be a BIG show!!! Have a safe
Summer, and don't forget to mark your calendars! http://www.cnc-
