Thanks for the responses to my question. Sure, I `can explain further. Boss comes up and mentions a project to cut two equal slots near the ends of a 6ft aluminum profile. So we think of cnc and then think that this is so simple that that is too much. This is for an industrial environment also. The move is plunge into the cut with pneumatic cyl and then make the move and back then out of the cut.
I like the idea of the B'port table drive, but that would require some re-design of the units that you buy and I would not want to subject the shop to that. But that is a great simple idea that I talked to the boss about.
I like the idea of an electronic type of simple movement. The plc's are nice but I have never used them and cant relate to what many of you are telling me.
Any more suggestions out there?
