But, the real time code is REALLY real time! (At least in various versions
with RTlinux and rtai.) There are "lite" versions of Linux that will
boot from
a CD, or even a floppy! They don't have everything in it, of course, but
enough to do a lot.

No, not at all. He uses a DLL that runs in real mode, essentially a
device driver
kind of code. It doesn't pre-empt Windows, like the RT Linux systems
do, but just
runs at a high priority.
