BDI-4.20 Software Installation

Greetings, I am having difficulties with the installation process
for EMC/Debian combo (BDI-4.20) on a 5 yr old P3 w/ 512MB ram. The
hard disk (about 8 GB) has been reformated and there should be no
partitions. From what I can tell, my downloaded copy from
www.wildrice.com/emc is probably okay (because checksum matches),
and the CD initially boots. When the initial screen loads, I hit
enter to continue. After a couple minutes into the installation, a
dialog box warns that the hard disk drive cannot be found. I
believe a driver was automatically loaded a little earlier during
the installation (aic-7xxx driver), but it must be causing some
problem. The computer has an Adaptec AIC-7899 SCSI controller.
At the dialog box, it seems I can choose between 3 other potential
drivers that match the my hardware's description, but any I choose
causes the installation to eventually stop. Any suggestions? Is
there a more appropriate driver that I could download? Or is there
a problem with the installer auto-selecting that first driver? I am
new to Debian and ECM, so any help will have to be for a beginner.
Thank you in advance,
Mark H
