In my reading, it seems that each material adds something. brass is
good because it can be annealed or hardended. soft wire will
straighten more easily than hard, hard wire is better at re-threading
when the wire brakes...

soft can cut a straighter line as it straghtens easier with less
pressure on the rollers. harder will last longer, but needs more
pressure on the rollers.....

Zink lasts longer or cuts faster or something....

But, in my application none of that really matters except hardness I
think.

Even the material may not matter too much.

I will probably E-Bay some tungston and grind it to a point to see how
well that will last.

I will probably try some music wire if I can get it in diameters of 5
thou or less.
