To all those who have responded to my query regarding PS, my thanks.
The pointers were all very interesting and informative.
I can roughly understand most of the discussions regarding the principles
behind the design of the PS but it gets confusing at times. Before I posed
this question here, I have researched the net, group discussions and forums
and most of the informations were either conflicting, too technical or not
very clear at all.
For most people like me who are not into electronics, it gets to the point
wherein the informations may lead to indigestion. ;-)
For the benefit of those who may have the same question or problem in the
future, may I propose or suggest someone comes up with a simple text
document detailing the basic principles and equations behind the designing
of a PS and an Excel document wherein data can be inputted and get a
resulting suggestion on what the transformer, capacitor and bridge rectifier
should be. It can then be put into the file section of this group for future
reference.
I would have volunteered to do it but I am afraid my minimal knowledge of
this subject may lead to erroneous information.
Gentlemen, any volunteer?
Regards,
Weedy
BTW, if the PS is designed for 4-axis but only 3-axis are being used, will
it matter? Or, is it just a simple question of waste of money or over
designed?
