The circuit would have something like a 100 Ohm 3 W resistor connected
to the power supply. The other end would be connected to the cathode of
two fast power diodes (the end with the bar). The diode anodes would be
connected to the two motor terminals where they connect to the transistor
drain terminals. The 100 Ohm resistor and a 1 A winding current would
limit the voltage on the transistors to 100 V. You also need a 20 Ohm, 25 W
resistor in series with each motor common wire to limit motor current
to 1 A with a 20 V power supply.

the motor phase pulses from step and dir signals.
