  Hi Juan,
I thank you for your concern, but having been a member of this group from
almost the beginning certainly among the first 250 members, I'm not going to
end up a wretched figure crying into my coffee because of reading opposing
opinions. This is quite normal as some here think the simple 'suck it and
see' cheapest approach is the way to go, while other think that the job
should be done most properly including having regard for health, safety and
not letting smoke out of transistors.
My thinking is to produce a toy (play thing), with some use, of about 8" x
6" x 2" working area for drilling and routing circuit boards. The first
boards it is to make are chopper drivers for its-self and then for some
other machines I'm converting to CNC, to a circuit I've had for a long time
and already bought the components. I am also one of those people that gets a
great kick out of making something, instead of buying it, to the extent I'll
build a blasting cabinet costing $75 rather than buy one @ $120.
There is also no point in using ball-screws and expensive linear rails on
this machine as accuracy and repeatability to very high levels are not
justified.
| > ok - i get the picture now.
| plz tell blue he's not gonna have any such concerns
| with a 5V 1A unipolar stepper before he gets all
| overwrought and wretched...lol
Regards,
Terry
