It sounds like you invested significant time in retrofitting the
Bridgeport. Did your extra switches and digitizing probe take you
beyond 5 input signals? Like all parallel port interfaces, the PMDX-
131 is limited to 5 input signals, and one of these MUST be the
emergency stop input. Also keep in mind that the PMDX-131 is for
Gecko STEPPER motor drivers only. If you are using G320 or G340
drivers you cannot use the PMDX-131.

The PMDX-122 is not as nice as the PMDX-131, but it can be used with
either servo or stepper drivers.
The Mach 2 and Mach 3 software is a free download for the demo
version. Calling it a "demo" is an understatement. It is limited to
1000 lines of G codes and lacks a few of the advanced features, but
is plenty functional and provides a great way to see if you like the
software.
