Harko,
I'm a professional software engineer and I specialize is motion bases.
The software to generate the figure might be something off the shelf.
However, I doubt it would be flexible enough for my purpose. Lot of the stuff I
can do in National Instruments LabView which I use to drive 7334 and 7354 Motion
Controller plus all the other Data Acquisition cards.
What I'm doing right now is bread boarding up a DSP (Digital Signal
Processor) to tie the 2 laser displacement sensors in real-time and control a PI
Nano-Positioner that has a resolution of .1nm open loop and 1nm closed.
Essentially what I'm doing is vibration control of the cutter so it doesn't pit
the surface (so it doesn't look like phonograph record) and monitor the cut
depth. This may not be necessary in the end, but it fun to play with at the
moment.

The best Epoxy Cement is made by Philadelphia Resin they have been making
product for the machine tool industry for a long time. When making such a
expensive part i wouldn't mess around with a homebrew cnc you are going to
be spending enough time for macro generation and you can use the Power
Automation CNC controller at about 1900 euro. It has analog input for
sensors and can totally handle anytype of tool offset.
