Hi, all.
Since I started this string, I thought that I would at least try to tidy up the loose ends and let y'all know which side of the
sandwich landed up.
I have now tested Kellyware and CNCpro. The Kellyware is truly idiot proof. Sets up nicely, easy to understand, runs the Camtronic's
stepper board. Let me say that again, it runs the Camtronic's stepper board s l o o o o w w l l y y y
y. I used my Compaq PII366 laptop, 128mg, win98 so I think that this limit is a function of win98, but I am not sure. Comments,
suggestions?
CNCpro on the other hand runs the board as fast as I think that I can push it. In fact, I had a little stalling on one axis. Does
anyone know where the ramping function is found? Also, it would be cool if it showed a plot of what it was doing, but, what the
hey, after what I have been through with Maxnc, I am in heaven.
Finally, Tim, if you wouldn't mind, I will try the Linux install. I have plenty of room on the shop box 1 gig drive, and will buy a
version of Red Hat, just for the support. My thinking is this, while I have caused a bunch of trouble for this group, I am within
two months of chasing down a Boss "x" and doing a retrofit. I think you, Tim, said that Matt Shaver was doing these or was a good
source of info. In addition, I may build a smaller router mill, probably from Bob Campbell's plans when he finishes them. I am
hooked! So it seems that using a ubiquitous machine controller like EMC across machines makes sense. I just want to learn ONE
machine controller. Cad programs.. well I have Rhino and will probably have to add a damn ProE seat to my business. Maybe Vector,
too. So, Tim if you would provide your address, off group or on, I will send check, cash or money order for what ever I need.
Again, let me buy the Linux from one of the big guys so that I don't have to bother you when I trip and stumble on the install.
By the way, Maxnc still won't work....
Thanks again everyone for the input and help.
