oh- i forgot- one material you might find interesting
is vinyl plastisol:

you can get color it easily and change durometer from
gummy.worm to hard.rubber by simply blending.
i have't heard of it being used, but i've worked with
it and it seems to me it would fill the bill for CHEAP
stereolithography if the material is suitable.
there's not a lot of work involved in shooting an
overflowing top layer of a tank as you lower the
target platform into it. Sounds very fun and very
doable! a very fine project indeed!
