Hi, from my experience of 15 years at a printing machine company, i went and
saw lithography being done at a uv ink manufacturers lab. we arrived at 8
am, went in saw the machine starting up. went for breakfast, then a plant
tour, by noon we could see 1/2 of the part being made.
the movie where a distributer cap rizes out of the fluid as if by magic took
hours and was condensed to seconds by camera magic. good sales gimmic.
now for UV light cure materials, with a parts stream of 750 parts per
minute, we used 2500 watt magnetron powered tube..and at 2000 parts a minute
the UV power supply was drawing more than 20 kw from the outlet to insure
ink on the surface of the part would cure. the part temperature also was
raised as result of ir energy in the unfiltered UV. for UV production one
might use a magnetron powered tube, they can get all kinds of spectra by
playing with gas mixes and pressures. plenty of UV output...i think the name
of the company was Fusion, but that was years ago. Uvion i think made the
big powered machines. once i saw how long it took to cure a film and the
power levels needed lithography didnt seem very practical except in certain
cases. cul brian f.

sister site to the CCED group, as many of the same members are there, for OT
