Larry,
I hard wired relay logic to prevent the brake from coming on if the
spindle was active and to prevent the spindle from starting if the
brake was on. I also built in 2 delays on my manual/CNC mill.
- Delay spindle start (make sure brake has time to disengage
- Delay brake on (give spindle time to wind down)

I used delay on start octal relays (similar to Jameco.com 497379)
placed between the 24 volt relay logic and AC spindle contactor and
brake air actuator. They are always active in manual or automatic. With
Mach3 in auto just make sure to set the spindle spin up time to more
than the relay delay plus actual spindle wind up. Mach3 doesn't control
the brake. I only use it on tool changes. I found my relays on Ebay.

May be overkill but I like to be safe.
