Hi Abby,
I wouldn't bother with lining the inside. Just use several coats of
gloss paint to seal the surface. You won't be able to use flood coolant
so you shouldn't get much oil etc on the sides anyway. A small machine
like that probably won't generate enough heat to worry about but if you
are concerned fit a small extractor fan with some ducting to take the
air and dust outside. Place the machine on a rubber mat to try to reduce
noise transmission.
If you use coolant, some of it is likely to creep into the room no
matter how careful you are. What materials are you intending to machine?
Brass, plastics and wood don't need any coolant. If you use coated
carbide tooling you can get away without any coolant on iron and steel.
Many grades of aluminium need a lubricant, WD40 works well and you don't
need much. As your machine is enclosed you will have to make up some
sort of pipe system to deliver the WD40 to the cutter.
