Mach does have a video function now and it will work with any webcam
or a TV card, there is the capacity to add cross-hair with a single click.
The resolution is dependant on the magnification of the lens system,
that relates the object size to the pixel size, the more of the object
on the work you image to the sensor array the greater the positional
accuracy.
I like the laser in a hole idea I can see uses for it, you could whack
several identical items on the bed for a secondary operation and not
have to worry about stops etc, you could even add an alignment hole to
the part in the primary operations potentially. Assuming it is well
mounted and vertical you will have a fixed relationship between laser
and tool, for routing type stuff that would be good enough for edge
finding etc.
Don't like the method don't use it.
I agree the "many happy customers" comment wasn't very classy.
