Interesting product.

first thing I see is the 25Khz as the listed top pulse rate.

I did not see any mention of a modbus support for external devices,
but that has got to be a future addition and probably a second board.
I think that if you are going serial, it would be a simple extention
of the USB.

but, to me the main reason, parallel ports are free.
