Hello Bill,

The direction line does not matter. The line is high for one direction
and low for the opposite direction. Which level results in positive or
negative travel direction depends on stepper wiring and mechanical
linkage. So it is best to just try it and then change it if necessary.

For the answer to your clock question, I will leave that to others who
are familiar with your hardware.

However, I will comment on nomenclature. It is unfortunate that many
descibe clocks as active high or active low. Clocks are usually rising
edge triggered (transition from low to high) or falling edge triggered
(transition from high to low). Clocks are not active during any level.
