If you run freqmod.o (or smdromod.o which is based on freqmod.o but uses the
encoder counts for feedback) you need a lot more horse power than for
steppermod.o or stgmod.o.
Regarding the disk size requirements, if you use a workstation install and
my setup script you only need about 700 mb to install and you end up with
about 300 mb free space.
