If the Kludge works then by definition does it really need fixing?
Thousands of working machines suggest not.

Just as in electronics you need to design with tolerances in mind so
I'd guess that any "super control system" would just come pre-Kludged.

The real question might be, can't you find something even more
interesting to do with your time?
