RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Power Supply Box's

The biggest problem will be noise.
I keep my spindle 7HP VFD mounted on the wall behind the machine, it also
gets a nice cool air supply.
I have a small 1/5 hp VFD inside my main cabinet for suds pump (it's three
phase, I have single phase, and gives me suds pump speed control)
The G100 doesn't like it's network cable to run within 9 inch of my big VFD
motor cable, though a screened network lead seems OK.
Servo cards and motor leads are also very noisy and will need to be kept
away from the G100 and it's input/output wires.
Also keep an eye on temperature.
Big commercial machines are all in one box, but that box is normally very
big to keep things away from each other, and to get enough air in.
Many people have successfully integrated it all into one cabinet, and
there's no reason why you shouldn't but debugging may take a while longer.
Anyhow that's some thoughts to get you going

What is the implications of building a power supply and computer box
together?
I've been tossing around the idea of building a dedicated power
supply box which not only houses the power supply but has the needed VFD,
G100, drives and spindle control interface card [ Digispeed?] as well as
any other little relay's etc. In addition to this I'd like to mount my
computer components right into this same box, MoBo, Drives, Video card and
have a touch screen and industrial keyboard. Is having all of this in 1
control box asking for problems? Should I be segregating the computer
components from the rest of the power supplies and VFD [ partition the box
to help eliminate RF and other gremlins into the works]? I'd beening
thinking about just buying a bare bones kit from TigerDirect.ca [or the
like] and using the guts outta it, not the case [well maybe switch out my
old plane Jane case on my home comp. for the new one if it was fancy].
Crazy?
