Are you saying that one could put in an axial movement, with a large
coil so that with no power, the core, then falls, axially, into the
work, sparks, melts the metal, the water removes the molten metal, but
if the unit shorts, the current rises, the coil current increases, and
the tool (core) is withdrawn ?

Sounds all too simple in concept.
