If your serious, this is what I would do, for heavy duty high speed
milling.
Look on E-bay for a Pershke or something similar router spindle
these can easily turn 18,000 all day long for years.
I seen one that came off an edge bander, a while back, for low bucks.
Less than ($200). Of course these are high frequency heads and you
would need a VFD (inverter) to run it at 300 Hz for 18,000 rpm.
We have a Porter Pin Router in our shop that runs at 20,000 rpm's
that I rebuilt in 1985. Has not had the bearings replaced yet.
It uses an Oil mist system made by Bijur (fantastic unit) we use
ATF in it. Used about a quart of oil in the last 5 years and
we run this thing almost every day. One job we had routing, Basswood,
was 110,000 pieces 15 hours a day, 5 hours per operator.
