just an anecdote:: we run 1000 oz/in Sigma brand steppers on our retrofit
boss 4 bridgeport ... for about 15 years now, and have not missed ONE step
..... except when we exceed a feed of about 10 in/min, which is pretty slow
( sigh ) but perfectly reliable ...

our house written software displays screen micrometers to compare with the
physical dials on the bridget, so we know that .... at about 20 in/min even
no cutting load it will miss occasionally, usually when xy or xz are both
running.

just interesting facts ... oh, a 1986 Aerotech controller set with a pc
streaming as the smart box.
