If you want to generate G codes inexpensively and for 2 ½ D and not full 3D, here is how you can do it:

1. Use a program like DolphinCAD, AutoCAD, Rhino 4.0, Corel Draw, and other similar programs to design your geometry.
2. Get a version of LinkMotion driver that can generate G codes, ($299 for a limited time). You need Windows XP or 2000.
3. Set your Z axis controls in the LinkMotion driver applet.
4. Click Print and save the file to disk.
5. You can open the saved file in an editor like NotePad and edit, if required.
6. Demo version of the software will allow you to generate 30 to 40 jobs without costing you a dime.
