Correct. But there was a time when many of us used them FOR cnc
applications because of their (then) huge torque!<G> and low cost.
One of my first DIY-CNC setups (late 80's) used two of these to move
an xy table under a drill press. I used bipolar drives from Dan
Hudgin's 200 buck full DanCAD/CAM documentation set. Back then; he
was "one of the only players in town", and certainly the easiest for
a newbie to follow.
We've come a LONG way...
