I would definitely try EMC2 before you buy Mach3. It's free and open
source, so there are lots of user interfaces that you can try until you find
one that you like. The configuration files are simple to write and
understand, and there are plenty of prebuilt ones that might work. It
doesn't require any special hardware or additional software, and you can get
a LiveCD which is a bootable version of Ubunto with EMC2 already set up
correctly and ready to go. Additionally, it's a LiveCD so you can run the
entire system off the CD without needing to install the operating system if
you just want to try it out.
